Former Tottenham Hotspur star Rafael van der Vaart has been critical of David Raya after Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
The Champions League quarter-final tie at the Emirates saw Harry Kane return to London for the first time since leaving Tottenham for Bayern last summer. The ex-Spurs striker found the back of the net when he converted a penalty in the 32nd minute.
Van der Vaart now works as a pundit for a Dutch television and he’s of the belief the Arsenal stopper should have done better with his effort to stop Kane’s penalty, and his quotes are relayed by AS.
The England international had slotted the ball into the lower right corner, right after the Spaniard moved in the wrong direction. The Tottenham fan favourite didn’t hold back while sharing his views on Raya, who’s currently on loan at Arsenal from Brentford.
“Take a look at Raya. Is this guy even a goalkeeper? Kane had not even moved and Raya was already on the ground,” he said.
Mikel Arteta’s side will travel to the Allianz Arena on April 17th for the return leg, and Raya has a chance to become a hero and help Arsenal make it to the last four of the Champions League.
