While Antonio Conte appears to have stepped away from talks with Tottenham, Fabio Paratici has not.
According to Calciomercato on Monday morning, the former Juventus director of football had a ‘total agreement’ with Spurs, and the announcement of his arrival was on its way.
Since then, TuttoMercatoWeb have corroborated that on Monday afternoon, claiming the agreement was ‘very close’, and that the club chief was ‘one step away’ from taking on his new role under Daniel Levy.
The belief is he will sign a three-year deal, and while the decisive day ‘will neither be today or tomorrow’, there is an expectation it will take place ‘before the weekend’.
That’s when the ‘long-awaited white smoke’ will arrive, unless, of course, some kind of ‘sensational’ U-turn takes place between now and then.
While Tottenham still don’t have a manager, this appointment should potentially help them get a plan going forward to fill the big gap left by José Mourinho and find the right man for the job.
