Tottenham have been trying to find a new home for Juan Foyth in recent weeks, with claims he’s been offered to multiple clubs.

Just this week, it was reported in Portugal that Spurs offered the defender to Benfica during negotiations for Carlos Vinicius, and then came a Catalan claim of Barcelona also turning down the chance to sign the Argentine.

Throughout all of that, a move to Villarreal has been rumoured, and it’s felt like that would be the fallback option should more exciting routes fail.

Calciomercato report Foyth will be moving to the Spanish club on loan for the season, which the move presented as close to happening, for which Villarreal will pay €1.5m. There’s a €15m buying option for next summer, and a potential €3m in bonuses on top of that.

That makes a total deal worth a potential €19.5m, which isn’t a bad result for Tottenham, should the permanent switch happen.

The Premier League club battled hard to sign Foyth in 2017, with Mauricio Pochettino helping them beat PSG for the player.
