Corriere dello Sport sound more optimistic on Sunday about Serge Aurier moving to AC Milan. The Italian newspaper says the transfer is now down to the ‘details’ stage, and that the player has decided Milan is the best solution for his future.
Having experienced life in Ligue 1 and the Premier League, he feels ready for a new adventure, and Milan are willing to provide him the opportunity.
Speaking to the player’s agents regularly, it’s stated Milan will today pick up the telephone again, wanting to know if those representatives have managed to get Tottenham to come down from their €22/23m asking price.
And that’s where the problems can enter, because it’s one thing Aurier and his agents being up for the move, and quite another thing getting Spurs to come down on valuation.
Whilst it’s reported by Corriere that Aurier’s relationship with Mourinho is ‘not idyllic’, that doesn’t mean Tottenham will be happy to hand out a discount so easily. Optimism at Milan may therefore be misplaced.
Should they fail to sign Aurier then their next option is Denzel Dumfries, however, PSV want €25m so Milan would face similar problems with that chase.
