Towards the end of the transfer window, Everton were interested in signing Mohammed Kudus from Ajax, who also wanted the move.
However, the Eredivisie side stood in his way, and while he will have been disappointed, him staying could ultimately work in his favour.
That’s because other teams have now started to take note of his performances, with Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund now reportedly keen on the player.
This comes courtesy of Bild in Germany, who reveal that the Bundesliga side are looking at the Ghana international in case Youssoufa Moukoko refuses to extend his contract, which currently ends in June of next year.
They explain that Otto Addo, who spent a large part of his career in Dortmund, is currently the Ghana national team manager, and could help usher the player to Germany, but they will have to tussle with Premier League clubs.
Towards the end of their article, Bild add that ‘Everton and Tottenham also already have the gem on their list’, which was already known, at least in the Blues’ case.
The issue for the Toffees going into the next two transfer window is whether they can make themselves more attractive than Dortmund or Antonio Conte’s side in this battle.
As for Spurs, whether they need a player like Kudus, who has seven goals and an assist in 11 games this season, remains to be seen, having heavily invested on Richarlison in the summer.
Then again, can you have too much of a good thing?
