Real Madrid are desperate. DESPERATE.

The big plan this summer was to sell Gareth Bale, probably to a hapless Ed Woodward, and then everything else would work out just fine.

But Bale doesn’t want to go. He only renewed his contract in 2016 and is very happy with his life in Madrid.

The Welshman’s move from Tottenham certainly hasn’t been a disaster and he’s played a big part in some of the club’s greatest nights. He should probably get more respect.

Yet Madrid, and their local media, appear somewhat astonished and subsequently annoyed that Bale and his agent haven’t gone out and found a club ready to part with big money.

They not only want him gone, they want his agent to sort it all out.

Unsurprisingly, that hasn’t happened.

Marca go big on Bale in their Wednesday edition, and Tottenham get a mention as a potential destination.

Sure, there’s wages worry, and the fact he doesn’t want a transfer, but let Marca have their moment.

Tottenham could ‘enchant’ their former player back, and he could move for the ‘sentimental factor’, with the insinuation those nice warm feelings would make up for losing a huge part of his wages.

It’s a long shot, just like all the other options at this stage.
