Tottenham have been in contact with Barcelona over a possible move for defender Emerson this summer.
That’s according to Diario de Sevilla, who say José Mourinho’s side have ‘probed’ Barcelona to discover what it would take to sign the Brazilian.
Emerson has enjoyed a solid campaign with Betis, who he signed with on a two-year loan from Barcelona last summer.
His performances have not gone unnoticed around Europe, with several big sides, including a handful in the Premier League, all thought to be keeping an eye on him.
There has been little update since then, but Diario de Sevilla say they remain interested and the 21-year-old is ‘on their agenda’ this summer.
Indeed, they have already ‘probed’ Barcelona for information, specifically to see what conditions would be needed to make a transfer happen.
What those are isn’t mentioned, but the newspaper explains that as Barça and Betis share the rights to Emerson, Barcelona will have to compensate the Heliopolitan team should they wish to end the player’s loan spell early to sell him.
At the moment there is nothing concrete and the player will begin work ahead of next season with Betis, but Tottenham ‘do not lose sight’ of him, and perhaps once Serge Aurier’s future is sorted, they will make their move.
