Spanish newspaper Sport really need to get their story straight on Pau Lopez to Tottenham Hotspur.

Earlier in March Sport reported that Tottenham are trying to get the goalkeeper’s price down, already being tough in negotiations.

Tottenham have a fixed buying fee of €7m and Sport had already claimed (in February) they’re to sign Pau permanently, making him second choice behind Hugo Lloris, with Michel Vorm being edged toward the exit.

Espanyol were said to be angered by Tottenham’s efforts to get a vast reduction on the price, but there was still a lot of confidence a deal would be found before the summer.

This weekend Sport say that negotiations haven’t even started. The claim of trying to get a lower price isn’t even mentioned, and the newspaper say: ‘Espanyol and Tottenham Screen Shot 2017-03-26 at 10.58.48have not started negotiations for the transfer of Paul Lopez.’

That’s some turnaround. Talks are now expected for the end of the season, which is appearing ever larger on the horizon.

Pau Lopez is currently away with the Spanish U21 squad.
