Cristian Romero’s move to Tottenham is expected to ‘be made official soon’ after Atalanta completed his permanent signing from Juventus.

That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who cover the situation after Atalanta and Juventus announced an agreement for the Argentine earlier today.

Romero has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over the last few weeks, with them keen to improve their defence after Toby Alderweireld’s departure.

After something of a block in talks last week, Spurs eventually made a breakthrough in negotiations with Atalanta over the weekend, with a move expected to be finalised sooner rather than later.

TMW back that up and state that the defender’s move to Tottenham should be made official soon, with Atalanta having completed the first step in buying Romero from Juventus.

The defender was only on loan with the Serie A side last season, but that included a purchase clause, which they have now exercised for €16m.

That means the defender is now theirs outright, leaving them free to sell to Tottenham and finalise his move to London.
