Wednesday’s edition of Le Parisien has an article on PSG interest in Donny van de Beek.
They explain the French club are keen, but given they need recruits elsewhere on the pitch for Thomas Tuchel, the Ajax player isn’t a priority target.
Several clubs are said to be courting him, and Le Parisien name those as Tottenham, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
All of those are concerned about the player’s price rise. His goals against Juventus and Tottenham have done a great deal to raise his profile and therefore his valuation.
The worry is what will happen if Van de Beek and Ajax make it to the Champions League final and potentially even win the competition. Unlike the other interested sides, Tottenham are in a position where they can actually do something about that.
Going into tonight’s second leg of the semi-final, Ajax have a 1-0 lead, thanks to the midfielder. Mauricio Pochettino’s men staging a comeback would not only provide them with more funds for the summer, but also stop Van de Beek potentially raising his profile and price even further.
On PSG and Ander Herrera, Le Parisien state: ‘The arrival of Herrera is still under discussion. The file remains on track and, if successful, will be formalised only after the sales necessary to complete the current fiscal year, before June 30th.’
