Besides Tottenham Hotspur’s disappointing trip to Lisbon, where Antonio Conte’s side were beaten 2-0 by Sporting in the Champions League’s group stage, officials from the London side had another job to be done in Portugal last night.
According to outlet O Jogo, Spurs were one of the clubs who sent scouts to the match between FC Porto and Club Brugge, with the Belgians winning 4-0 at the Estádio do Dragão.
The newspaper doesn’t bring any information on who Tottenham could be watching, even though there was clearly nothing good to take from Porto’s disastrous performance.
Spurs had scouts at several Porto matches last season, and were even linked to a few players such as Jesus Corona, Fabio Vieira and especially Luis Diaz. It turns out, however, that Conte’s side couldn’t win the race for any of them, as they respectively made moves to Sevilla, Arsenal and Liverpool.
If Tottenham really wanted to take some positive notes last night, then they may have found good things to see from Club Brugge, with their entire team having a great performance, with four different goal-scorers.
According to O Jogo, 21 foreign clubs sent scouts for this match. Among them, there were the likes of Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla.
