Tottenham Hotspur had an official at the Thursday match between Benfica and Dinamo Zagreb. The scout was on the official list published by the Lisbon club, so Spurs’ presence is pretty sure.
When the reports of the visit came out there was no indication of who the Premier League club will have been looking at. There were so many scouts at the game that it would be near impossible to work out who they were all there to see.
Saturday’s edition of A Bola claims to know who Tottenham are keeping an eye.
It’s claimed that Spurs, along with Bayer Leverkusen, sent someone to watch João Pedro Neves Filipe, better known as Jota.
He’s a 19 year old attacker who can play anywhere across the front three.
Playing primarily for Benfica’s B team this season, he’s had a few appearances with the seniors, including the Europa League match.
Jota has a €30m clause, and A Bola claims Tottenham and Bayer Leverkusen are ‘evaluating the possibility’ of paying this, with Benfica wanting to give the youngster a pay rise and increase his clause to €100m.
