Tottenham have decided to sell Richarlison in the summer transfer window after growing frustrated with his injury record.
That’s according to journalist Jorge Nicola, who covers the Brazilian interest in the forward today and insists Everton will also be in the mix.
Richarlison has endured another frustrated year at Tottenham as injuries have limited him from any consistency and just 14 appearances totalling 545 minutes in all competitions.
That has largely been due to injuries, with this season alone seeing him suffer from four separate injuries that have ruled him out for nine games, 17 games, one game and 10 games to date.
It’s been a continuation of what’s been a miserable period for him since joining from Everton in a €58m deal in 2022 and Nicola says Tottenham have had enough.
“Time to talk about Richarlison. What is this story about the former Brazilian national team center forward who plays for Tottenham being able to appear in Brazilian football?” he said.
“In the last few hours, speculation has been that Palmeiras, Fluminense and Flamengo are preparing a proposal to buy the player in the middle of the year.
“The big news on this subject is that Tottenham, very bothered by the center forward’s series of injuries, is considering negotiating him permanently starting in July.”
Finding suitors for Richarlison despite his injury record should not be difficult for Tottenham, with the player regularly linked with a return to his homeland in recent months.
Palmeiras, Fluminense and Flamengo are all reportedly interested in a potential deal for him and a report today named all three and Richarlison wants a move to ‘compete for titles’.
Nicola now covers each of those three clubs and believes any deal is unlikely thanks to the finances involved.
“I can rule out Palmeiras being interested in Richarlison. When Verdão spends 155 million reais to buy Vitor Roque, they stop looking for the player,” he added.
“Regarding Flamengo and Fluminense, the question I leave is how can they buy a player who arrived at Tottenham at a cost of €58m?
“Even if Tottenham admits a loss and loses, for example €18m, Richardson would still cost €40m. This number is completely out of line with the reality of any football club in Brazil, not to mention Pombo’s salary. Richarlison earns around R$3,900,000 at Tottenham, much higher than the salary of any active player in the country.”
