Tottenham are providing stern competition to Juventus in the race for Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who say Tottenham are ‘above all’ in the competition for the striker’s signature.
Vlahovic is one of the highest-rated young players in Europe, with 44 goals and six assists in 101 games for Fiorentina so far.
That has alerted half of Europe to his ability, and he has been linked with a big move for months, particularly as his contract is set to expire in 2023.
That means Fiorentina could be forced to sell next summer to avoid him being available on a free the following year, and several clubs are keen.
Tottenham are one of them, with it believed their Italian duo of Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici have identified the 21-year-old as the perfect addition to their forward line.
They face competition from Juventus, who are also on the hunt for a new number nine next season and want Vlahovic to be it.
They have gone as far as to make an ‘initial offer’ but need to wait because there is competition, and the English teams, Tottenham and Manchester City ‘above all’ have ‘vastly superior budgets’ to work with.
There’s a sense they could blow Juventus out the water if they want to, although it all depends on whether Vlahovic will move in January.
At the moment, that is unknown, so all the interested parties have to wait, but Tottenham are one of them regardless.
