Tottenham are one of the sides keeping an eye on Serbian top talent Nebojsa Grujic with his performances having ‘aroused the interest’ of a number of clubs.
That’s according to Ajax Showtime, who say the 14-year-old is earning himself a growing list of admirers as he impresses on the youth level.
They explain that Grujic is considered ‘one of the greater talents of his generation’ and has therefore attracted the interest of several clubs.
He’s currently playing for Red Star Belgrade’s U15s and can play anywhere in attack, although he operates best as a left-winger.
Scouts around Europe are attentive to him and alongside Ajax, Tottenham, Fiorentina, KRC Genk, Benfica and Red Bull Salzburg are all in the mix. It is therefore not a foregone conclusion that he will end up at Ajax.
Whether that interest can lead to a move to Tottenham depends on to be seen, although he is the latest in a growing list of youngsters to be linked in recent months.
Their plan under Ange Postecoglou appears to be to scoop up young talent and develop it themselves moving forwards and Grujic could be the latest name to add to that.
The big problem will obviously be Brexit, which has already made the signing of young players a difficult prospect. That would be even more complicated given Serbia is not in the EU and so Grujic would be blocked from joining until he’s 18.
The whole deal would be a complicated affair to say the least, then, but Tottenham are in the mix anyway alongside Ajax and several other sides in Europe.
