With all the hype surrounding Nicolo Zaniolo, one man was completely forgotten by the Italian papers in Rome: Cengiz Under.
The Turkish sensation, who took Europe by storm during the opening half of the season, disappeared from the transfer rumour radar nearly entirely from March onwards, as did the stories sending him to both Tottenham and Arsenal.
Rest assured, however, as they are back thanks to Gazzetta dello Sport, who get the ball rolling once again, mentioning both Spurs and the Gunners as suitors for the young winger.
Once touted to go for a fee of at least €50m, Under’s price has now dropped to around €40m, at which point Roma would have to sit and think about their options.
Gazzetta explain both Tottenham and Arsenal have ‘come forward’ over the past few weeks to hold talks with the player’s entourage in order to find out more details about a potential deal.
The Italian newspaper explain the answers were ‘positive’, hinting that a personal contract shouldn’t be too hard to agree upon.
Injured towards the end of January, the 21-year-old only made two starts in the league following his return on March 31st, picking up two assists in two cameo appearances against Juventus and Parma.
This comes after the news Tottenham allegedly made a £53m bid for Giovani Lo Celso on Tuesday, suggesting Daniel Levy is trying to help Mauricio Pochettino ahead of next season, perhaps in a bid to convince the Argentine to stay beyond the current campaign, regardless of Saturday’s result.
