Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Barcelona winger Ferran Torres may not be a very strong rumour yet, but is getting its importance from part of the media.
We get to see Spurs’ chase highlighted in Italy, where they speak about the chances Juventus have of signing the Spaniard.
CalcioMercatoWeb today write that Tottenham are ‘above all’ in this race, as they have already ‘come forward prematurely’ for the signing.
Spurs’ idea to sign Torres is said to be related to the possibility of having Luis Enrique in charge next season, as the former Spain manager could replace Antonio Conte.
Those are very strong statements from CalcioMercatoWeb, although they’re all followed by the website saying ‘these are just market rumours’ for now.
Tottenham are reportedly followed by Juventus in this race, but just like Spurs, the Old Lady are only interested in Torres if a specific scenario is met.
That is in case Angel Di Maria or Federico Chiesa leave the club at the end of the season, so they’d have a reason to go after a new winger.
