If TuttoMercatoWeb on Friday are to be believed, then Tottenham could be about to pull off a nice little coup ahead of the January transfer window.
The player in question is Genk’s Sander Berge, who has previously been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool, and Spurs could be ready to spend €25m on his services.
According to the Italian website, over the past few days, ‘close contacts’ have taken place between the two sides, with the Belgian outfit letting Tottenham know of their demands.
Having spent nothing in the summer, January could be the ideal time to use some money to strengthen the squad, although there’s a chance the deal wouldn’t go through in the next window.
TuttoMercatoWeb suggest it’s ‘possible’ that an agreement takes place in the near future, only for the transfer to go through next summer, allowing the Norwegian midfielder to finish his impressive season with the Jupiler Pro League leaders before making the step up.
A €25m sale would represent a huge profit for Genk, who originally spent just €2m on the now 20-year-old back in January 2017.
Since then, he’s made 71 appearances, scored two goals and picked up four assists.
