Aside from Spanish football being unfair with everything weighted in favour of Real Madrid, there’s probably nothing the Catalan media like to complain about more than English clubs snooping around La Masia talent.
The latest one is Marc Cucurella (bottom row, second from right, curly hair). The Catalan press haven’t only done that thing where they drop his first name, but also now simply refer to him as ‘Cucu’.
Cucu, a left back, has a contract running until June 30th, and Tottenham and Chelsea are among clubs who would like to whisk him away from La Masia.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham have scouts all around Europe keeping an eye on the best youngsters, wheres Chelsea have been doing that since way before Antonio Conte, but usually loan the footballers out.
At 18 years of age, Cucu would be a bet for the future at Chelsea, and probably sent elsewhere. Things may be slightly different at Tottenham, but the youngster will surely consider a La Masia stay.
Barcelona are worried about his contract situation and will work to fight off the London interest of Tottenham and Chelsea, as well as any other clubs keen.
