According to Fichajes.com, Tottenham and Chelsea are ‘very closely’ monitoring the progress of Gorka Guruzeta, currently with Athletic Bilbao’s B team.
The 20-year-old forward has yet to feature for the La Liga side’s first-team, but considering how well he’s doing with the backups, a promotion could happen in the near future.
At around 6’2”, the young forward can play either down the left and through the middle, and is capable of scoring with both feet with ease as well as being a dominant force in the air.
The fact that his contract with Athletic Bilbao is coming to an end in the summer is one of the reasons why both Tottenham and Chelsea are after him, as getting such a talented player, shining in a great academy, for free would be a coup to say the least.
It’s claimed both clubs ‘aim to take advantage’ of the free transfer possibility.
Scoring seven goals in 20 starts last season, Guruzeta is currently on 4 in 10 this time around, and we can expect more to come from this story in the coming weeks, especially if he hasn’t signed a new deal with Bilbao by mid-December.
If that happens, expect a few more clubs to join Tottenham and Chelsea in the race to get him on a free.
