Soon the January transfer window will be closed and planning will start for the summer window. Of course some clubs will have already started looking towards more long term signings, and Tottenham are one of them.
One of the names on Mauricio Pochettino’s list is Jann-Fiete Arp, Hamburg’s 18 year old striker talent. Back in November it was reported by SportBild that Tottenham had initiated some sort of contact over a potential future move.
Then in December the same German magazine said Spurs have the player in view, as a potential future market opportunity.
Today, Bild talk about a contract renewal, and Tottenham are the only English club named as an interested party. It’s again stated Spurs have him on their list, and it’s explained a contract renewal probably won’t kill things.
Hamburg are currently 17th out of eighteen in the Bundesliga, and facing the very real prospect of relegation. Bild believe any new contract will include a relegation release clause of around €10m.
That would allow Tottenham to get their target relatively cheaply and easily, and bring in a striker who wouldn’t be too concerned about playing back-up to Harry Kane.
Away from all the craziness of what will happen today and tomorrow, this is certainly worth keeping an eye on.
