Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are set to provide competition to Juventus in the race for Bologna star Riccardo Calafiori.

Earlier claims from Italy stated Spurs are keen on signing the defender, and they are now joined by the Gunners in the transfer chase.

That’s according to Tuttosport, who state Tottenham are challenging Arsenal in the battle to sign the 22-year-old.

It’s explained the north London rivals are ‘ready to break in’ to try and secure Calafiori’s services.

Bologna have no plans to sell the Italy international unless there’s a ‘monstrous offer’. The report makes no mention of their specific demands, but they state the Premier League duo have better financial resources than Juve to carry out this operation.

Calafiori, for his part, would like to reunite with Thiago Motta at the Turin club. The deal is complicated for Juve because of the competition provided by both Tottenham and Arsenal.

Faced with the possibility of missing out on the Italian, Juventus have identified Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior as an alternative.

The 24-year-old Pole has previously worked under Motta at Spezia. If Arsenal were to win the race for Calafiori, it could open the door for Juve to sign Kiwior.

In that case, Tuttosport say Mikel Arteta’s side could sell him for a fee close to €17m. Juve have to be wary of competition from AC Milan, who are also in the picture to sign Kiwior.
