Despite that long saga which took Nicolo Zaniolo to Turkey in January, the Italian media didn’t stop talking about his potential move to the Premier League.
This month, reports claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could push again for his signing, now set to negotiate with Galatasaray for his transfer.
But Zaniolo actually seems fine at his new club, with no desire to leave them so soon. That was said by the player himself in an interview with the Turkish media.
“I have no intention of staying here to wait for an offer and leave at the end of the season. I want to win the championship and play in the Champions League with Galatasaray,” Zaniolo told Hurriyet.
Covering those quotes, Italian outlet Calcio Mercato take them as a sign that Zaniolo is therefore not waiting for a move to Milan or the Premier League. In the same piece, the interest from Tottenham, as well as Bournemouth’s, is recalled.
In case those clubs want to take the midfielder from Galatasaray without a lot of negotiation, there are already some fixed fees for the upcoming transfer windows. The player is protected by a €35m release clause this summer, and that will decrease to €28-30m in 2024, then going to €23-25m in 2025.
Before going for Zaniolo again, it seems Tottenham must convince him first.
