Tottenham can secure the signing of Sampdoria youngster Giovanni Leoni for just €5m, so long as they leave him at the Italian club for another year.
That’s according to Sky Sport Italy, relayed by FC Inter 1908, who say Tottenham are one of several clubs vying for Leoni’s signature at this point.
Reports around Leoni have been building over the last week or so, with the Sampdoria defender seemingly earning himself admirers across Italy and indeed outside of it despite being relatively early in his career.
Sky continue that today, insisting Tottenham are in the mix for the young defender and can get him for a bargain €5m price if they wish to do so.
They, though, have to accept one demand from Sampdoria before they will sanction an exit, and that is to leave Leoni at the club for another year so he can continue growing there. They would even like him to stay for two, something Napoli have offered.
Whether Tottenham want to accept that demand is now up to them, although given they agreed a similar deal for Destiny Udogie in the past, perhaps they’ll be inclined to accept and now push for Leoni after all.
