Rosario Central have now made a formal offer to loan Alejo Veliz from Tottenham, but Spurs have other ideas for him.

That’s according to journalist César Luis Merlo, who reports that Tottenham would prefer for the striker to stay in Europe and not return to his former club.

Veliz has been linked with a return to Rosario Central over the last week, with them plotting an ambitious summer of signings after bringing Angel di Maria back.

It’s been made clear that Veliz is keen on the move and Rosario believe there is a deal there to be done because of that.

Merlo reports the same, stating that the Argentine side have made a formal loan offer and the player is keen to return to his former club.

However, according to him its not a simple situation as Tottenham would prefer him to continue in Europe at this moment in time. That is despite two failed loan spells at Sevilla and Espanyol.

It’s been made clear in reports in Argentina that this may be the case and was the major stumbling block to Veliz potentially re-joining his former club. Now it appears that Rosario and Veliz have work to do to change Tottenham’s plans.
