Italian outlet FC Inter News this week features an update on the situation of Stefan De Vrij, who’s going through a little saga to get a new contract from Inter Milan.
The website writes that the process is currently on stand-by, as the defender’s new deal is ‘not a priority’ for the Nerazzurri, since their finances are ‘not thriving’.
That of course opens the eyes of clubs who are interested in the 29-year-old, and according to the report, Tottenham Hotspur are one of the sides watching the situation.
Spurs are claimed to be one of those who have come forward and ‘asked for information’ on the scenario lived by De Vrij. They’re said to have the competition from Barcelona and Newcastle United.
De Vrij’s contract with Inter Milan expires in 2023. So Tottenham’s intention would be to sign him next summer, when there will be one year left on his deal, and they could find an ‘economically advantageous’ situation.
Meanwhile, agent Mino Raiola continues to wait for the Nerazzurri to act. It’s said they already promised the player a contract until 2025, worth €4.5m per season, but haven’t put it on the table so far.
