On Sunday we covered claims from Le10 Sport over the future of Christian Kabasele.

A few days before that, the same French outlet had published a story saying a Watford renewal was on the way, and whilst they reiterated that, it was claimed several other clubs are thinking about signing the Hornets man.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle United and West Ham were all presented as keen, with a winter transfer chase suggested, and we explained it felt very much like an agent play.

Watford are unlikely to sell this month, and it could all be a case of upping the figures on the renewal and getting that deal over the line.

Intriguingly there’s another exclusive on Kabasele today, this time from Walfoot in Belgium. Tottenham and Arsenal are said to be interested, which drags Spurs into the story and keeps the Gunners there.

Again, it feels like an effort to hype the player and potential interest in him. He’s presented as being ‘in the form of his life’, and having ‘one of his best seasons’ since moving to English football.

These claims clearly aren’t coming from the reportedly interested clubs, or from Watford. Whilst Tottenham, Arsenal and others may have some level of interest, this one looks very transparent.
