The Italian media love a good percentage when it comes to transfers, just so their readers can visually picture who leads the pack for a player in the upcoming transfer windows.

However, it seems they are pretty undecided when it comes to Nicolo Barella, who has made it clear he would like to stay at Cagliari for the foreseeable future (most likely until season’s end).

Manchester United tend to be the ones normally thrown in there, with their interest dating back to January 2018, but it appears a more pressing need for a starter has led them to Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini instead, leaving Tottenham and Arsenal as the only two Premier League clubs Gazzetta dello Sport mention on Thursday.

This, of course, isn’t the first time Spurs and the Gunners have been linked with the young midfielder, as Unai Emery’s side were said to have ‘noted down his qualities’ back in mid-October as they scour Europe for Aaron Ramsey’s replacement.

As for Mauricio Pochettino and co., the latest we’ve seen on the matter came on November 15th when a report claimed Tottenham had made an ‘in-depth enquiry’ about Barella’s situation, having a ‘firm conviction’ he would become a top class player in the future.

Percentage wise, it’s a tie at the top, with both Arsenal and Spurs joined by Inter on 30% chance of signing the Cagliari starlet, while Roma trail behind with a mere 10%.

This suggests, at least on paper, that no one really is in the lead to acquire Barella, but the interest appears to be there.
