Gazzetta dello Sport on Monday published what will be their final European Team of the Week for the current season. Each week the grand old Italian newspaper pick out a selection of the best performances from around Europe, with their own Serie A left out.
Usually there’s a few players from the Premier League, and this week is no exception. Mid table clubs have had more than their fair share of players included this season, but in the final team, it’s some of the Premier League’s big boys who get a mention, with Tottenham, Chelsea, and Arsenal having players included.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane is picked up-front alongside Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Kane scored a hat-trick as Tottenham demolished Hull City 7-1, and the England international is the league’s top scorer, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men finishing second in the Premier League in large part to Kane’s goals.
Eden Hazard also found a way in through Chelsea’s victory over Sunderland. Whilst the match will be most remembered for John Terry’s send-off, Hazard was a driving force behind the actual football.
Hazard put Antonio Conte’s side into the lead in the first half, and remained a menace to a poor Sunderland side.
For Arsenal, the man picked is Hector Bellerin, who has come back into form after a difficult spell. Arsenal beat Everton 3-1 despite having Laurent Koscielny sent off, and Bellerin opened the scoring in the first half.
