Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal looked at Barcelona’s Ferran Torres in the winter market, according to a report from Spain.

On December 28th, Sport reported Arsenal showed willingness to make an offer for the 24-year-old. However, there wasn’t anything concrete to suggest the Gunners submitting a bid for him.

Thursday’s edition of Marca mentions both Tottenham and Arsenal when reporting the La Liga side blocking the forward’s exit in the recently concluded window.

AC Milan contacted the Catalan club for the 24-year-old, but Barca sporting director Deco didn’t entertain their effort. They made an approach before signing João Félix on loan from Chelsea on winter deadline day.

Napoli sold Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain last month and the newspaper claims they considered replacing him with Torres. Both RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund knew the Spanish giants won’t sell the attacker.

He continues to have a market in the Premier League, where Tottenham and Arsenal are ‘very attentive’.

Mikel Arteta’s side always have the former Manchester City man on their agenda. Spurs, for their part, had considered signing him to improve their attack.

The north London rivals could possibly tussle for Torres’ signature in the summer, and if they do, they’ll have to convince the player to leave Barcelona.
