Barcelona allowed Andre Gomes to join Everton on a season-long loan and the midfielder has impressed in his first season in the Premier League.
Sport now claims the Portugal international will be one of the players who will leave the Camp Nou in the summer and he is ‘near’ Tottenham Hotspur.
It’s that Spurs have ‘already agreed’ with the player’s representatives that they’ll offer €30m to Barcelona ‘in the coming days’.
The Catalan newspaper further suggests there is an approval from the former Valencia man, who is in favour of joining Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Marco Silva had earlier publicly expressed his desire to retain his compatriot at Goodison Park.
The report from Sport explains Everton have an option to sign the player on a permanent transfer in the summer, but Tottenham’s offer is better than that of Everton, which is why they have taken the lead.
Sport make things sound serious, and further state: ‘During the past week, the agents of Andre Gomes (Wasserman) met with Tottenham executives where they closed the last fringes of the operation. At Barça they are aware of the English interest and are waiting for the formal offer to close it (the transfer) as soon as possible and thus start having liquidity to work on the next signings.’
Malcom is another Barcelona player who has struggled under Ernesto Valverde and is willing to leave the Spanish champions to play in the Premier League, even though he has other interesting offers.
Tottenham are ‘interested’ in the Brazilian’s situation, but unlike Gomes, Malcom’s case has not advanced yet.
Gomes has been repeatedly linked with Tottenham in recent seasons, and despite these claims sounding quite confident, there’s always the possibility it’s an effort to rush Everton so Barcelona can get their money.
