After months of contractual dispute and refusal to sign an extension, the Adrien Rabiot case appeared closed, with the French midfielder leaving Paris Saint-Germain either in January or next summer.

Barcelona were seemingly going to be his next destination, but with all the talk of Frenkie de Jong potentially signing in the summer, priorities changed.

According to France Football on Wednesday, one of the other clubs who have been long-listed as interested have ‘accelerated’, and that’s Tottenham.

The French magazine claim Spurs are trying to trump Barcelona and Bayern Munich for the France international’s signing, and those in charge at the club are ‘preparing to make an offer in the coming hours’.

On top of this, Mauricio Pochettino is expected to talk directly with the player this evening to try and convince him to choose Tottenham over the other two European giants.

Rabiot’s last appearance for the Ligue 1 champions was on December 11th against Red Star in the Champions League.

The midfielder has since been pushed to one side and has recently been training with the club’s U23s.
