It appears that Liverpool’s pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion’s star Alexis Mac Allister has come to an end, and it’s a positive one.

That’s according to TyC Sports journalist César Luis Merlo, who took to Twitter to claim that the Argentina international ‘will play’ for the Reds next season.

In fact, the deal is so advanced that the midfielder ‘will undergo medical tests on Tuesday or Wednesday’, after Liverpool found a ‘total agreement’ with Brighton over the transfer.

As for Mac Allister, he will forego a season of Europe with the Seagulls to work under Jürgen Klopp from this summer onwards, and will sign a contract with the Reds until 2028.

This all comes after a great season for the 24-year-old, who established himself as an invaluable part of both Brighton and the Argentina national team, helping the latter lift the World Cup trophy in Qatar last year.

As for Liverpool, they might have had a season to forget by their standards, finishing outside the Champions League spots in the Premier League, but they have at least managed to secure the midfielder they were looking for after dropping out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham.
