Sadio Mane’s decision not to renew at Liverpool meant the Reds have been put under some pressure this summer to sell him. Given he’s a valuable asset, the chance of losing him for free couldn’t be risked, and therefore Jurgen Klopp’s club entered into negotiations with Bayern Munich.
Following the signing of Darwin Nunez from Benfica it became increasingly clear that Mane would be on his way out, and the Bundesliga club made a second approach this week, after their initial offer was rejected by Liverpool.
Talks have been ongoing between the two sides, and Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg now reports an agreement has been reached between the two clubs.
Plettenberg states there’s ‘total agreement’ and Mane is set to become a Bayern Munich player. There’s no indication of the figures involved yet, although it’s likely both clubs had to compromise.
Given the German media have been reporting Mane already has a personal agreement with Bayern, there’s no need for them to negotiate that.
Update: Florian Plettenberg has added that the total fee, including bonuses, won’t be higher than €40m.
