On Tuesday, Sport in Spain made a very bold claim involving Manchester United and Thiago Alcântara.

The Bayern Munich midfielder’s time at Bayern Munich appears to be coming to an end, and following past interest from the Old Trafford side, it’s easy to believe they could be keen on him once again.

Sport didn’t waste any time in jumping to this conclusion, going as far as saying the Spain international is ‘about to leave’ the Bundesliga side and ‘sign for Manchester United’.

Whether he is or isn’t remains to be seen, but it seems there could be some truth behind it, at least according to SportBild journalist Christian Falk, who took to Twitter on Wednesday to reveal a tidbit of information he heard.

He explained ‘there are still rumours about Thiago and Manchester United in the executive floor of Bayern Munich’, suggesting those in charge at the Bavaria club have heard something about their Old Trafford based counterparts potentially being interested.

It could be they simply read Sport’s report on the matter, but we highly doubt that.

It’s not much, but it could be an indication there are some within Carrington who wouldn’t mind working with the former Barcelona midfielder, and perhaps Thiago will finally be able to team up with David De Gea at club level.

You know, nos vemos in Manchester, and all that…
