Simon Kjaer suffered a serious knee injury in AC Milan’s 3-0 win over Genoa and is set to be out for the season.

The situation has forced the Serie A side to look for a new centre-back in January. At the weekend, Gazzetta dello Sport stated Chelsea’s Malang Sarr is ‘under consideration’ at Milan.

The 22-year-old has been restricted to three appearances this season and last featured for the Blues against Southampton in October.

Sky Italia state the Rossoneri have two options for the winter market; either invest in a new defender or take someone on loan.

Stefano Pioli’s side signed Fikayo Tomori on loan from the west London club in the winter 2020 market. They could return to Chelsea for the next window, where there’s Sarr and Andreas Christensen, who have found little space under Thomas Tuchel in recent weeks.

The Denmark international was left out of November’s fixtures after the international break, partly due to his refusal to sign an extension.

His contract expires in 2022.

Sky explain the 25-year-old is on ‘top of the list’ handled by Milan chiefs, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara. Milan, however, fear the Dane will eventually sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge.

Over at Calciomercato, they also explain Christensen is one of the names handled by Maldini and Massara for January.
