Federico Pastorello is one of the best known and most respected agents in European football.

Occasionally granting big interviews to Italian newspapers, this week Pastorello spoke to Tuttosport, and one of the first questions was whether he’s ever done any business with Tottenham.

With Daniel Levy’s negotiating skills legendary around Europe, Pastorello opening a London office, and Juventus facing Tottenham in the Champions League soon, Tuttosport asked the agent if he could remember any deals with Spurs.

“Carlo Cudicini, who is now on the Chelsea staff. While Pepito Rossi at the time of Villarreal was one step away. The president Daniel Levy is very able, after all, and managed to turn an average club into one of the top 6 of England.

“Tottenham has become an important reality while maintaining the same philosophy: investments on young people and no madness. It aims a lot on the youth sector and on the English scouting: Kane, Dele Alli are not random… The new stadium will be excellent. For a young talent it’s the ideal place.”

In 2011 Harry Redknapp spoke openly about a Tottenham attempt to sign Giuseppe Rossi from Villarreal, but given the player’s injury issues since then it may not be such a bad thing that Spurs missed out.

Pastorello is clearly impressed by what Levy has been doing at Tottenham and believes Mauricio Pochettino ‘is one of the best around’.

The agent even named Spurs as the ‘Little Prince’ of football in London, perhaps smaller than some competitors, but ‘charming’.
