Georginio Wijnaldum isn’t having the best time at PSG since his move from Liverpool, and the midfielder hasn’t been afraid to speak about that in the media.
During the recent international break, the player spoke to the Dutch media to share his current struggles, and explain he’s not exactly having the experience he expected when he decided to walk out of Anfield for the Ligue 1 club.
The situation has obviously been big news in France, and Thierry Henry, speaking as a pundit for the country’s Amazon service, has given his take on the situation.
RMC quote the Arsenal legend explaining Wijnaldum needs to get used to the ‘non-structure’ at PSG, presumably after playing with much more structured tactics under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, and also with the Netherlands national team
Henry believes this isn’t just something Wijnaldum has gone through, and used Fabinho’s adaptation at the Reds, and Saul Niguez’s Chelsea struggles as examples.
“Saul Niguez knows that now at Chelsea,” Henry said. “I remember Fabinho who had difficulty adjusting to Klopp’s structure at Liverpool. It took him six months.
“He’s (Wijnaldum) not a bad player. You don’t turn bad in two months. I’ve seen him play for the Netherlands, he’s still good but he needs structure. A player like that needs be structured.”
Whether that will happen for the Dutchman at PSG remains to be seen, although Fabinho got over his early Liverpool issues and is now key for Klopp.
