Chelsea winger William today had a live chat with Esporte Interativo to talk about how he’s been dealing with the Coronavirus pandemic.

The player explained he’s been at his apartment for six days now, and can’t even use the gym in the building where he lives, so he’s been trying to do some exercise at home.

“The instructions they passed on to us were that no one should leave the house,” Willian told Esporte Interativo. “Unless there’s something you need to buy, at the market or at the pharmacy. But we shouldn’t leave the house, not to go to any other type of place. And if the club knew something that the players would be leaving, they would fine us. That’s what they said to us.”

Regarding Callum Hudson-Odoi, Willian has described exactly how they got to know that their teammate tested positive for Coronavirus.

“I remember we played against Everton on a Sunday, I think, and he was injured, but he was at the game, he went to watch the game, after the game he stayed in the locker room with us. On Monday we had a day off and came back on Tuesday. Then he didn’t present himself again. On Tuesday, Wednesday and even Thursday he hadn’t returned to training. Then we learned that he wasn’t well, that he was sick, felt a fever, I think, and I think Thursday night was when we heard that he tested positive for the Coronavirus. So, starting this Thursday night, the club informed us that we were supposed to stay at home, not leave the house until further information. That was what happened.”

He’s claimed that Chelsea are supposed to be back in training next Monday, even though no other players have been tested: “Nobody did this kind of test. Only himself.”

Willian has also spoken a little about his contract situation. It’s been mentioned by reporter Fred Caldeira that the season could end in July, and that’s past the expiry date of the player’s current deal with Chelsea.

But Willian says this should not be a problem, since he would complete the season even without a contract with the club.

“I think so. My contract really ends, I think in July. And if I had to play on those dates, in these months, I think it would be no problem for me to end the league in a way which would be loyal to the club, as they always were with me. Regardless of a signed paper. But it’s clear that this is not a certainty, we don’t know what can happen. But without a doubt, as always, I will always be ready to give the best to my club regardless of my contract situation.”

He’s also been asked if there’s any news on the negotiations with Chelsea, since it’s become public that the Blues are not offering him the length  of deal he’d like. But he says the talks have stopped for now.

“No, nothing new, No news. Especially after what’s happening, everything stopped. But so far no news about anything.”
