With everyone agreeing that Chelsea are close to bringing Romelu Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge, it appears to be a matter of when and not if.
That, however, remains the big question, as the two clubs still haven’t officially agreed on a fee for the Belgian striker, but the general consensus is it will eclipse the €100m mark.
The transfer would see the Belgian return to his former club, this time as an accomplished and far more experienced striker, in a similar move to Paul Pogba’s, when Manchester United paid Juventus the big bucks to have him back at Old Trafford.
Corriere della Sera on Monday appear to have a timeframe for the move, and they state that ‘today will be the day of Lukaku’s official farewell’, which would see Edin Dzeko then immediately bought from AS Roma to replace him.
Whether that goodbye means an announcement from the clubs or him turning up at Inter’s training ground to shake hands with everyone isn’t explained, but the inclusion of ‘official’ in there suggests the former.
That’s pretty much all they have to say on the matter, but it’s an update nonetheless, and one we are sure Chelsea fans will be glad to hear.
Now, we simply have to wait and see if this information materialises.
