Portuguese newspaper A Bola have a feature in their Tuesday newspaper on Liverpool interest in William Carvalho, and West Brom get a couple of mentions.
Not only are Tony Pulis’ side linked as one of those interested in signing Sporting’s Carvalho, but a claimed summer offer is covered again. A Bola say that timing is everything for a Carvalho exit, and state: ‘Just remember that West Brom has submitted a proposal of €30m in the last days of summer market that was refused by Sporting.’
Things since then have changed, with Sporting failing to meet any of their objectives for the season, and the campaign looking like a write-off already.
If they’d have excelled and Carvalho, fresh off the back of winning Euro 2016, had progressed further then their bargaining stance would be very strong.
That isn’t the case and A Bola say Sporting are looking for €30m, which is exactly what West Brom offered in the summer.
Pulis may well have moved on but should West Brom fancy another go then the opportunity is there, maybe even for less.
