Thomas Frank initially joined Brentford as assistant manager in December 2016 and was promoted to first team manager in October 2018.
Frank guided the Bees to the Premier League promotion in 2021 and helped them finish 13th last season. Things have improved this season as Brentford are currently eighth in the table, trailing sixth placed Liverpool by a point.
The 49-year-old’s work at the London club has seen him linked to a few other clubs, which is to be expected. Tipsbladet editor-in-chief Troels Bager Thøgersen believes Frank could leave Brentford after this season.
“This summer, Thomas Frank will move on to a bigger club than the Brentford he works for right now,” Thøgersen said.
“For the second Premier League season in a row, Brentford are exceeding all expectations. It is really, really nice to be in the best half here, where we can glimpse the end of the season. But now is also the time to move on. It cannot continue as it has gone. The key players are starting to be sold to other Premier League clubs. It simply cannot be avoided when you are the smallest of all 20 teams in the league.
“Although Brentford are extremely skilled in their recruitment and actually get more out of this Smartodds work than FC Midtjylland has done here in recent years, it cannot continue. It is almost mathematically impossible. So, it is now time for Thomas Frank to move on to a bigger club.”
The journalist also believes the Dane will receive opportunities to leave Brentford after this season.
Last December, Frank signed a new deal until 2027 and days later, he admitted he won’t finish his career at Brentford. He had also talked about “having big dreams” for his future.
Earlier this month, the manager stated there has to be a “unique opportunity” for him to leave his current employer.
