Edinson Cavani’s new deal with Manchester United has only postponed Boca Juniors’ dream of signing him.
Even though the striker extended his commitment to the Red Devils for one more year, the Argentine media never stopped talking about his chances of landing at the La Bombonera side as soon as possible.
And it’s not only a press thing. Because when speaking to Boca Juniors’ official channels this week, club president Jorge Amor Ameal was also asked about the Uruguayan striker.
“In the first place, it goes through Cavani’s decision to say that he wants to play at Boca and the relationship he has with Roman, which is very strong. Time must pass and hopefully we can see Cavani here,” said Ameal (via TNT Sports).
“I’m still very happy with our players, we do not have to devalue our team. Obviously it’s important that players of their level want to play here, this speaks of the importance of our institution, not only in Latin America but in the world.”
Even though many people in England didn’t notice, Manchester United’s Spanish account on Twitter tried to provoke Boca Juniors back on Tuesday.
They published a picture of Cavani with a message saying ‘En la 𝘽𝙤𝙘𝙖 de todos en Old Trafford’, which means ‘In everyone’s mouth at Old Trafford’, using a Spanish expression to clearly refers to the Argentine club.
Needless to say, that had a big reaction from Boca Juniors fans and the Argentine media.
