Last week, La Razón reported the Crown Prince of Johor’s potential arrival at Valencia could see them try to make an attempt to bring Juan Mata back to the club.

The 32-year-old has seen his playing time restricted at Manchester United this season. He has made only two substitute appearances in 2021.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has Bruno Fernandes as his first choice attacking midfielder and can also use Donny van de Beek in the same position.

According to Fichajes.net, the ex-Chelsea star has become ‘expendable’ and no longer fits into the Norwegian’s plans. Therefore, his ‘departure can be confirmed’.

The Spaniard must look for a new club and the outlet states his ‘intention’ is to finish his career in his home country. It’s claimed several La Liga sides are interested in acquiring the United player’s services and would be ‘willing to make the investment’ for his transfer.

Fichajes.net explain three clubs ‘want’ Mata and they are Valencia, Real Betis and Real Sociedad.

Valencia are going through a difficult period off the pitch and Mata’s return to his old club would be a ‘plus’ for Los Ches. Real Sociedad, on the other hand, are looking to unite him with his former teammate, David Silva.

Betis are willing to invest on signing Solskjaer’s man, if they qualify for next season’s European competitions.

Mata’s contract expires in the summer and United retain an option to further extend it by one more year.
