After letting Antonio Rüdiger and Andreas Christensen leave as free agents, Chelsea are working to sign at least one new centre-back this summer.

The Blues have already been interested in a handful of players and their target list for the defence includes Presnel Kimpembe.

At the start of last month, the Paris Saint-Germain player admitted he will discuss his future with the club’s new leadership.

Fast forward to July and L’Equipe now state the Ligue 1 winners’ new chief, Luis Campos, didn’t like the defender’s comment. PSG new manager Christophe Galtier was also not pleased.

Therefore, the hypothesis of the France international leaving Parc des Princes this summer has gained momentum. He will not be held against his will if there is an offer that suits both the player and the Ligue 1 winners.

It’s claimed Chelsea are keeping tabs on the 26-year-old, who played under Thomas Tuchel at PSG.

The Blues manager appreciates the Frenchman and ‘would push’ for Chelsea to take action and ‘make the first offer’ to sign him. This would come as good news for Campos, who sees the centre-back as one of the players to make money from.

PSG are keen to sign Milan Škriniar and Inter Milan are demanding €60m for the 27-year-old.

If Škriniar, with a contract expiring in 2023, costs that much, L’Equipe suggest Kimpembe should be worth €60m, or even more, since his deal runs down in 2024.
