Aston Villa midfielder Philippe Coutinho believes that this week will be the one in which his future is finally determined.

ESPN Brasil cover comments from the 33-year-old today in which he admitted he believes this week will be decisive.

Coutinho is currently on loan at Vasco de Gama in Brazil, having joined them in the summer transfer window when it was made clear that he was not a part of Unai Emery’s plans.

He’s keen to stay at the club and they’re keen to keep him, but negotiations over a permanent move have been slowly progressing over the last few weeks.

All parties want to get the deal done before the end of the month, when the loan deal expires and Coutinho would have to return to Aston Villa.

Vasco’s CEO Carlos Amodeo has already stated this week that they are waiting for Aston Villa to release the midfielder, with negotiations well underway to make it happen.

Now Coutinho has provided a positive update as well, insisting that he believes negotiations will progress through this week towards a positive conclusion.

“People are talking, this week I think it’s positive to talk about and decide everything,” he told Premiere after Vasco’s win over Sao Paulo on Thursday.
