Liverpool’s Luis Díaz started this season on a positive note, with 12 goals and three assists from 33 games so far.

The forward has failed to impress as much in this calendar year as he hasn’t scored or registered an assist in nine matches.

At the weekend, claims from the UK stated Liverpool are aiming to revamp their attack in the summer. They also said Arne Slot has doubts about the Colombia international, who has struggled in recent weeks.

This has reached the Colombian media and journalist César Augusto Londoño gave his take on the 28-year-old for Caracol Radio’s El Pulso del Fútbol. Bolavip have relayed his comments.

César Augusto Londoño insists the former FC Porto man is still in the Merseyside club’s plans amid claims the Reds manager is having doubts about him. He even suggests the media are pushing the South American towards the exit door at Anfield.

“That information is published by ‘Anfield Watch’, which is a Liverpool fans’ portal that I follow, and they are the ones who are forcing the issue a bit with Luis Díaz comments,” he said.

“That he played very badly, indeed he played very badly, he didn’t transcend, he couldn’t do well. Jota played in the middle, Luis Díaz played on the left and they are promoting the departure of Luis Diaz, Núñez and Jota, but it is not Liverpool’s decision.

“They are saying that it is a warning from Slot, who already in Liverpool would not have him among their plans, although he has a contract until 2027.

“But it has to be said that this is not the case, and I would say that Liverpool continue to consider the Colombian player.”

Díaz has over two years left on his contract at Liverpool. On New Year’s Eve, we covered claims that there’s a lot of anger from his entourage over Liverpool’s reluctance to improve the renewal offer.
