Fenerbahce are set to rival their arch-rivals Besiktas and Galatasaray in the race to sign Aston Villa’s Trezeguet, say Fotospor.
The Egyptian winger is currently one of the hot topics in the Turkish transfer market, with previous claims linking him with moves to Besiktas and Galatasaray, and now local rivals Fenerbahce.
It’s reported Fenerbahce’s new sporting director Emre Belozoglu and former Sheffield United board member Selahattin Baki, who’s now on the Super Lig club’s transfer committee, have contacted Trezeguet’s agent William D’Avila.
Fotospor claim Belozoglu, Baki and D’Avila have discussed several players including Trezeguet, and it’s claimed Fener will make a loan offer for the attacker if Villa are relegated from the Premier League.
Dean Smith’s side are in 19th place with eight games to go, so the Turkish clubs are circling, as they often do when English clubs are on the brink of relegation. Trezeguet has been a regular player for Villa, making 31 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four goals.
His contract at Villa Park is valid until June 2023.
