As Manchester City defender Ruben Dias this week had an interview with the Portuguese media, he had nice things to say about his teammate Bernardo Silva.

The centre-back was interviewed by Pedro Pinto’s 1 Para 1, and when speaking of compatriots he has at the Premier League side, he showed some big affection for the midfielder.

Dias started by talking about how close he is with Silva, saying he loves having him at Manchester City. The quotes come from Mais Futebol.

“He’s one of my best friends, maybe my best friend,” said Dias.

“He’s very excited about being a father. I think he ends up being one of my best friends, maybe even the best. We have different backgrounds, but the bottom line is that we see life in a very similar way. It gives me pleasure to have someone like that around, and a Portuguese one at that, to enjoy everyday life with. Whatever the topic or reason, we end up talking about a subject and having very similar views. It’s a comfort. It’s a pleasure to have him here with me.

“I’m his security guard, sometimes a bit abusive. But when he needs it, he comes to my side and I give him the cover he needs.”

The defender was then asked about the Manchester City player who’s often reading articles and knows everything. He had no doubt about picking Silva for that one.

“You know who that is, that’s why he’s in the cold showers every now and then. It’s Mr Bernardo Silva. Then he complains. He thinks he’s Wikipedia.”

Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva both started in Portugal’s 3-2 win over Slovakia, and following their qualification for the Euros, the midfielder ended be getting spared from the match against Bosnia, even though the centre-back ended up staying on the pitch for 90 minutes in that second game.

The duo are set to be back in action on Saturday, when Manchester City play Brighton & Hove Albion at the Etihad Stadium.
