On Tuesday, Gazet van Antwerpen stated Arsenal are the most concrete option for Johan Bakayoko. It was also reported that the track leading the PSV Eindhoven star to the north London club could evolve positively.
Later that day, Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink stated Arsenal have asked about the Belgium international, but a decision on his future may not be made until after the Euros.
The forward has been restricted to 46 minutes in the group stage of the Euros. Ahead of Belgium’s knockout tie against France on Monday, he told the reporters that he was a bit disappointed to be left out of the starting XI in all three games.
Bakayoko’s quotes are relayed by Het Belang van Limburg, who points out that Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Barcelona all have him on their list.
There’s been speculation the attacker would leave the Eredivisie winners in the summer window, but he has now played it down.
“But I never said I want to leave PSV, others have done that in my place. If something comes up, you have to think about it, but now is not the time. I’m not thinking about a transfer here, I’m thinking about how I can do my best here,” he said.
Voetbal Krant have also relayed comments from the player, where he insists that his focus is currently on the Euros.
“I have to be honest. I’m more concerned with playing more here than a transfer. I’m thinking about how I can do my best even more or prove myself to the coach even more. That transfer, that’s for after [the Euros],” Bakayoko explained.
